FOOD FRESK
Workshop that explores the impact of our diet on the environment and suggests ways to eat more sustainably.
Key scientific facts
Reports such as the IPCC report indicate that the agriculture sector is responsible for 24% of global greenhouse gas emissions. According to the FAO, around 30% of the world's agricultural land is used for livestock farming, which represents a heavy environmental impact. The EAT-Lancet report, for its part, proposes more sustainable diets, which could reduce food-related emissions by 70%.
Process and duration
This 3-hour workshop is organized in three phases. Participants begin by analyzing the stages of the food chain (from production to consumption), as well as their environmental impacts. Then, they discuss different diets, including vegetarianism, veganism, and their effects on the planet. Finally, they identify solutions for adopting a more sustainable diet, such as local consumption, reducing food waste, and reducing the consumption of animal products.
What is it about ?
The Food Fresk highlights the links between our eating habits and their impacts on the planet. Participants discover how agriculture, food production, and our consumption choices contribute to deforestation, water pollution, and greenhouse gas emissions. The goal is to explore how everyone can adopt a more environmentally friendly diet.
Why is it essential ?
Food is one of the main levers for reducing our ecological footprint. Intensive agriculture and livestock farming are responsible for many environmental degradations, such as deforestation and soil pollution. Reducing meat consumption, promoting short supply chains and adopting more responsible eating habits are concrete ways to act for the planet. This workshop helps raise awareness of these issues and promote a more sustainable lifestyle.
