FOREST FRESK

Immersive workshop to understand the importance of forests and the threats they face.

Key scientific facts

The workshop draws on studies from FAO and the IPCC that reveal that nearly 13 million hectares of forests disappear each year. Deforestation is responsible for nearly 10% of global greenhouse gas emissions. Participants also learn how forests can contribute to achieving climate goals by storing large amounts of carbon if they are well managed.

Process and duration

During this 3-hour workshop, participants reconstruct the links between the health of forests and that of the planet. The first part presents the different types of forests and their ecological functions. Then, a second phase explores threats, such as deforestation, intensive agriculture and illegal logging. The third phase is dedicated to solutions and strategies for the protection and sustainable management of forests.

What is it about ?

The Forest Fresco invites participants to explore the multifunctional roles of forests, which act as carbon sinks, habitats for biodiversity and climate regulators. By discovering the causes of deforestation and possible solutions, this workshop aims to raise awareness of the crucial importance of forests for the ecological balance of the planet.

Why is it essential?

Forests are ecosystems that are essential for regulating the global climate, by absorbing a large part of the CO2 emitted. They also provide vital services such as air purification, water conservation and biodiversity protection. Massive deforestation threatens these functions and contributes to the climate crisis. Raising awareness of forest issues helps promote more respectful and sustainable practices.
