LET’S INVENT OUR LOW CARBON LIVES

This is a workshop to imagine more carbon-efficient lifestyles and reflect on the transformations needed to achieve them.

Key scientific facts

The workshop is based on the IPCC and ADEME transition scenarios, which show that it is necessary to reduce individual emissions to around 2 tonnes of CO2 per year by 2050 to limit global warming to 1.5°C. Today, the global average is 4.5 tonnes of CO2 per person. The workshop helps to understand what changes are needed in different sectors of life to achieve these targets.

Process and duration

This 3-hour workshop takes place in three phases. First, participants take stock of their current carbon footprint through a simulation or a collective diagnosis. Then, they imagine together alternative solutions and lifestyles based on sobriety, by reinventing key aspects of their daily lives. Finally, they discuss the obstacles and levers to make these transformations possible on an individual and collective scale.

What is it about ?

The “Inventons Nos Vies Bas Carbone” workshop invites participants to think concretely and creatively about how they can adapt their lifestyle to drastically reduce their greenhouse gas emissions. This workshop explores various areas such as housing, food, mobility, and leisure, and helps to visualize a daily life compatible with planetary limits.

Why is it essential ?

To achieve the CO2 reduction targets, each individual must re-evaluate their lifestyle choices. This workshop helps to show that living in a low-carbon way does not necessarily mean giving up comfort, but rather rethinking our priorities and habits in favor of healthier, more equitable and ecological lifestyles. By concretely visualizing the changes that need to be made, the workshop helps to move from awareness to action.
