Construcity, privileged contact point for employment in the construction sector in Brussels-Capital Region, wanted to integrate an ecological transition awareness module into Bruxelles Formation training pathways, with learners in technical building trades.
Objectives
Enable future sector professionals (roofers, heating engineers, painters, etc.) to understand global climate issues and identify action levers specific to their trade in eco-construction logic.
Intervention
Step 1
Climate Fresco workshop: Adapt Climate Fresco content and examples specifically to building sector context and vocabulary. Design interactive animation approach to generate collective awareness among manual training audience. Create relatable scenarios and examples from construction projects and trade practices. Facilitate workshop sessions engaging learners in active discovery of climate science.
Step 2
Sectoral debrief and action: Facilitate structured debrief identifying specific impacts and action levers in construction trades. Lead discussion on sustainable practices and sector innovations applicable to learners' future work. Connect global climate issues to daily practices in roofing, heating, painting, and other trades. Help learners see themselves as agents of change in construction sector transformation.
Step 3
Inclusive pedagogical approach: Design simplified, visual, and concrete content appropriate for manual training audience with diverse backgrounds. Create materials using diagrams, photos, and hands-on examples rather than text-heavy presentations.
