Deltrian: From Carbon Data to Climate Action

Manufacturing
2025

Context

Conducting a carbon footprint assessment for Deltrian as part of a project funded by the Walloon Region (Circular Wallonia) and Centexbel.

Objectives

Measure emissions (carbon footprint) compatible with recognized industry standards. Deliver results and methodology in a simple and comprehensive report to share experience and learnings at sector level.

Intervention

Step 1

Project scoping: Map existing organizational and operational flows to understand current state. Define clear scope boundaries aligned with industry standards. Validate project timeline and ensure alignment with business planning cycles.

Step 2

Data verification: Comprehensive review of already collected data to assess quality and completeness. Validate adequacy of existing data against the defined assessment scope. Perform detailed analysis of data representativeness across different time periods and operations. Validate available data against expected orders of magnitude for credibility.

Step 3

Data processing: Validate obtained magnitudes and orders of magnitude against industry benchmarks. Refine calculations for certain emission categories where precision is critical. Apply sensitivity analysis to understand key drivers of emissions. Ensure overall consistency and reliability of the carbon footprint results.

Step 4

Action plan development: Facilitate collective ideation session engaging operational and strategic teams. Generate decarbonization ideas tailored to Deltrian's specific context and constraints. Classify ideas by impact, effort, and timeline for implementation. Prioritize these ideas into a structured roadmap with clear phases and milestones.

Step 5

Synthetic report delivery: Document methodology used with sufficient detail for audit and replicability. Present results in a commented format highlighting key insights and trends. Provide general recommendations to deepen the climate approach over time. Include guidance for ongoing monitoring and continuous improvement.

Results

  • Existing carbon footprint completed and deepened, improving reliability and readability of internal analyses
  • More detailed analysis of emission sources, enabling prioritization of reduction levers
  • Clear and shared roadmap to integrate climate into cooperation projects

Key takeways

Deepening an existing carbon footprint sustains the climate approach through reliable data and concrete actions.
