Equans IT BELUX department is committed to becoming carbon neutral by 2027. The IT BELUX department wants to lead the way so initiatives can be deployed more broadly within other departments.
Objectives
Design a roadmap for sustainable digital with concrete actions and rapid progress to reduce IT's environmental impact.
Intervention
Step 1
Scope definition: Define comprehensive organizational and activity scope for digital sustainability assessment. Identify and engage organizational team groups to highlight their main challenges and priorities. Conduct value chain mapping to identify negative environmental impacts across IT lifecycle. Establish baseline understanding of current digital footprint and impact hotspots.
Step 2
Indicator creation: Conduct thorough review of literature from main sustainability frameworks and digital responsibility standards. Create comprehensive dashboard to measure and track performance across multiple dimensions. Select 32 strategic KPIs focusing on most effective levers linked to organizational objectives. Conduct gap analysis comparing selected KPIs to market average and best practices to identify improvement opportunities.
Step 3
Action plan development: Facilitate prioritization workshops to identify priority areas for intervention. Structure priorities into achievable projects within realistic roadmap with phases and milestones. Formulate specific target objectives for each key indicator with clear success criteria. Link actions to broader organizational sustainability commitments and timelines.
Step 4
Responsible digital policy: Draft comprehensive IT policy to support strategic roadmap and ensure consistent implementation. Define governance structures, roles, and responsibilities for policy execution. Establish monitoring and reporting mechanisms for accountability and transparency. Create communication plan for policy dissemination and stakeholder engagement.
