Pluxee: Designing High-Impact Biodiversity Contribution

Context
Traditional carbon offsetting is increasingly questioned on credibility and additionality, exposing companies to reputational and greenwashing risk. Pluxee wanted to move decisively beyond pure offsetting toward high-integrity climate and biodiversity contribution by investing in projects with genuine, measurable environmental and social co-benefits that align with its values, its sustainability strategy and the expectations of its stakeholders.
Objectives
Build a portfolio of credible, traceable and high-impact contribution projects; ensure their real impact can be measured and substantiated over time rather than merely claimed; and integrate them into the broader sustainability roadmap with a clear, defensible narrative that strengthens stakeholder trust.
Intervention
Step 1
Scoping & priorities
- Worked with Pluxee to define internal priorities (geography, type of impact, and stakeholder expectations)— to focus the search on projects that genuinely fit the company's strategy.
- Translated Pluxee's values and sustainability goals into concrete selection criteria, so that project choices would be coherent, explainable and aligned with the brand narrative.
Step 2
Project identification & selection
- Mobilised expert partners to present a tailored selection of innovative contribution projects spanning reforestation, soil regeneration, natural-reserve protection and biosourced materials.
- Provided critical analysis and impact projections for each option, weighing credibility, traceability, long-term impact and alignment with Pluxee's values.
- Helped Pluxee shortlist and select preferred projects and define the communication angles for each, ensuring the story behind every contribution is clear and substantiated.
Step 3
Impact measurement (MRV approach)
- Built the engagement around an MRV framework (Monitoring, Reporting, Verification) so that impact is measured and claimable rather than assumed.
- Explored technological tools, for credible post-contribution impact verification across natural reserves, soils, reforestation and biosourced materials.
- Assessed implemented projects against their original impact projections, closing the loop between investment and measurable outcome.
Step 4
Integration into the roadmap
- Supported the approval and integration of selected projects into Pluxee's sustainability roadmap, connecting them to the wider climate strategy.
- Helped equip Pluxee's teams with the evidence and messaging needed to communicate the contribution credibly to internal and external stakeholders.
Results
- A curated portfolio of credible, high-impact biodiversity contribution projects, selected against clear, values-aligned criteria.
- An operational MRV framework enabling measurable, verifiable impact claims rather than unsubstantiated offsets.
- Selected projects integrated into the sustainability roadmap, each with a defined communication angle and supporting evidence.
- A defensible biodiversity narrative that reduces greenwashing risk and reinforces stakeholder trust.
Key takeways
By moving beyond offsetting toward measurable, high-integrity contribution, Pluxee builds a biodiversity strategy grounded in traceable impact rather than claims. The MRV approach turns contribution into something that can be monitored, reported and verified — giving Pluxee a credible, differentiated story that holds up to the scrutiny of increasingly demanding stakeholders.
