The Workshop
AI Battle (Bataille de l'IA) is a strategic card game co-created by Latitudes and Data for Good to explore the multifaceted impacts of artificial intelligence on society and the environment. Designed for groups of up to 5 players, the game makes complex AI issues accessible to diverse audiences - from secondary education through corporate and government sectors. By translating AI policy research into playful gameplay, participants discover the interconnected challenges of AI including creativity, bias, reliability, and environmental footprint in an engaging, non-threatening format.
Why It Matters
Understanding AI's social and environmental impacts is critical as AI systems are increasingly embedded in decision-making across sectors. This workshop matters because it democratizes access to nuanced AI literacy, moving beyond hype or fear to informed understanding. Latitudes currently partners with over 400 organizations across education, business, and government to deliver AI awareness training. What to Expect
The workshop unfolds in phases: facilitators introduce the game rules and core concepts of AI impacts; players draw cards representing different AI challenges (creativity, bias, reliability, environment, society); discussion emerges naturally as players navigate trade-offs and consequences; facilitators guide deeper reflection on how these issues manifest in real-world AI systems; and the session closes with participants committing to concrete actions for promoting responsible AI in their contexts.
