The Workshop
The Tech Fresco is a collaborative, 100% low-tech workshop designed to understand, question, and debate. It covers sexist AI, mass surveillance, speculative bubbles, job precarity, democratic erosion and more. Above all, participants aim to imagine new narratives and new futures. It is a space to step away from techno-solutionism, sort fact from fiction, and turn tech into a true lever for transition.
Why It Matters
In a world where digital transformations are accelerating, teams need solid benchmarks to innovate with clarity. The Tech Fresco offers an immersive, collective, and impactful experience to better understand technological challenges, take a step back from progress narratives and build a shared, critical, and engaged vision of digital technology.
Good to Know
According to the Shift Project, the digital sector is responsible for 4% of global greenhouse gas emissions, and this figure could double by 2025. The production of a smartphone requires 70 different materials, including rare metals, often extracted in unsustainable conditions. The workshop presents solutions such as digital sobriety and the promotion of the circular economy in the tech sector.
What to Expect
The workshop is structured in three parts over approximately 3 hours. First, participants dive into a playful timeline from Gutenberg to AI. Then, interactive modules question the impact of tech on environment, health, economy and democracy. Finally, through design fiction, participants envision desirable futures for technology that serves the transition. Each participant leaves with a mini roadmap to act responsibly.
