Nature Proof
The Taskforce on Nature-related Financial Disclosures is to biodiversity what the TCFD is to climate. Companies that adopt it early get ahead of disclosure requirements and build nature into their risk management before regulators require it.

The TNFD (Taskforce on Nature-related Financial Disclosures) is a global framework that helps organizations report and act on their nature-related risks and opportunities. Released in September 2023, it mirrors the structure of the TCFD (climate disclosures) and is designed to become the reference standard for nature reporting.
The core methodology is LEAP: Locate your interfaces with nature (where do your operations and value chain touch ecosystems), Evaluate your dependencies and impacts (what you take from nature and what you do to it), Assess your material risks and opportunities (financial implications), and Prepare your response (targets, actions, disclosures).
Nature positive is the strategic goal: achieving a measurable net gain in biodiversity by 2030. The Kunming-Montreal Global Biodiversity Framework (GBF), adopted in December 2022, sets the global targets. Companies adopting nature positive commit to reducing their negative impacts and increasing positive contributions to biodiversity, with verified measurement.
The two concepts connect. TNFD provides the disclosure framework. Nature positive provides the strategic direction. Together, they give companies a path from assessment to action to reporting.
Regulatory convergence is the first reason. The CSRD already requires nature-related disclosures under ESRS E4. The European Commission has signaled alignment with TNFD. Companies that adopt TNFD now build the data infrastructure they will need for mandatory reporting.
Investor demand is accelerating. Major asset managers (representing over $20 trillion in assets) have endorsed TNFD. Nature risk is entering portfolio screening the same way climate risk did five years ago. Companies without nature disclosures face lower rankings and harder questions.
Physical risk is real. Pollinator decline threatens $235 billion in crop value annually. Water scarcity affects manufacturing and agriculture globally. Soil degradation reduces yields. These are not environmental abstractions. They are supply chain risks with financial consequences.
The competitive window is narrow. Companies that assess and act first will secure restoration partnerships, build supplier engagement programs, and establish credibility with stakeholders before the space becomes crowded.
We guide you through the full TNFD process, from initial scoping to disclosure-ready outputs.
Scoping and materiality. We assess which nature-related topics are material to your business using your double materiality assessment and sector-specific screening. We determine the depth of LEAP analysis required for each material topic.
LEAP assessment. We run the full LEAP process: spatial analysis of nature interfaces, dependency and impact evaluation using ENCORE and SBTN tools, risk and opportunity quantification, and response planning. For companies that have already completed a biodiversity diagnostic, we build on existing data.
Target setting. We help you set nature-related targets aligned with the Global Biodiversity Framework and SBTN (Science Based Targets for Nature). Targets cover no net loss, net positive contribution, and specific actions for priority ecosystems.
Disclosure preparation. We structure your TNFD disclosures following the framework's four pillars: governance, strategy, risk management, and metrics/targets. The outputs are designed to feed into your CSRD report and investor communications.

Companies with material biodiversity exposure: agriculture, food, forestry, mining, construction, pharmaceuticals, textiles. If nature is material to your business, TNFD adoption is a matter of when, not if.
Organizations with CSRD obligations where ESRS E4 is material. TNFD alignment strengthens your CSRD disclosures and positions you ahead of regulatory convergence.
Companies responding to investor requests for nature-related information. If your shareholders or lenders are TNFD signatories, they expect nature disclosures from their portfolio companies.
Businesses with nature positive ambitions that need a structured pathway from commitment to measurable action.
We have been working with the TNFD framework since its beta release. We understand how it connects to CSRD, how it differs from climate-only approaches, and where companies typically get stuck (spatial data, dependency quantification, target setting methodology).
Our approach is practical: we use the tools that exist (ENCORE, IBAT, SBTN) and build workarounds where tools are still developing. Nature assessment is less mature than climate assessment. We know where the gaps are and how to navigate them.
Typical engagement: 6 to 12 weeks. Deliverables include the LEAP assessment, target recommendations, disclosure-ready TNFD outputs, and integration with CSRD reporting.
