A 3-hour workshop using collective storytelling and imagination to envision desirable futures for 2030 aligned with values of sharing, mutual aid, and ecological harmony.

The Workshop

2030 Glorieuses (The Glorious 2030s) evolved from a popular podcast into an experiential workshop designed to help groups collectively imagine and prototype desirable futures. Founded by Julien Vidal, the workshop guides participants on a journey to 2030 where humanity has successfully navigated current crises and shifted toward more equitable, sustainable ways of living. Through structured narrative exercises and collaborative imagination, participants explore what thriving in 2030 could look like and identify the pathway to make it real.

Why It Matters

This workshop matters because it reclaims collective imagination as a tool for change. In times of environmental and social crisis, maintaining hope and envisioning alternatives is essential for motivation and innovation. Rather than dwelling on problems, the workshop helps groups move from "yes, but" thinking to "what if" thinking, creating psychological and social conditions where positive transformation becomes imaginable and therefore possible.

Good to Know

The workshop operates on a 1.5-2 hour journey through 2030 without self-censorship or typical critical barriers. It employs a methodology that replaces contradiction with collaboration: when one person proposes an idea, others contribute by adding "and if" rather than "but." The podcast foundation has built a community of thousands interested in imagining sustainable futures, and the workshop format brings this vision-making to organizations and communities.

What to Expect

The session begins with grounding participants in the present moment and challenges; facilitators guide collective imagination of a 2030 where humanity has addressed ecological and social crises; participants explore different domains (work, food, energy, community, culture) through storytelling and dialogue; each contribution builds on previous ideas, creating an emergent shared vision; the workshop concludes by connecting the imagined 2030 back to present-day actions and commitments participants can make.
